Thanks for the reply.but, I have BaseCamp 3.0.1, Windows PC, I've updated the firmware on my Oregon 450, and I dowloaded to my SD card the TOPO U.S. 24K - Great Lakes. The only maps I see in BaseCamp are City Navigator North America NT 2008, City Navigator North America NT 2009, Global Map, and 2 maps I've dowloaded from elsewhere, the OSM World Routable and Michigan Topo.
My Garmin 450 is listed on the left with a folder called All Data under it. If I click on that folder, I see a bunch of tracks.but that's it.
This is frustrating. I contacted customer support via email 2 days ago, and I never even got a 'whe're looking into it' reply back.nothing. Not so good an experience so far. Dave I copied the map from the SD card to my desktop. The maps don't show up at all, even if I go to File/Importon BaseCamp, the maps don't show. The map I downloaded from Garmin has 3 files. They are: Topo24KGreatLakes.gma Topo24KGreatLakes.img Topo24KGreatLakes.unl And according to BaseCamp, none of those are supported.
Hi all, I want to make an application that lists folders, subfolders and it's files. Ftp directory listing.
Only.gdb,.gpx,.kml,.kmz,.loc,.mps are supported.what gives!?? Ok hang on here! Customer support just contacted me and here's what they said: 'If you purchases the maps as a download you will only be able to view the maps on your device only. The only way you can view Topo 24K is by installing the map to your computer using a DVD. Maps from the internet will only install directly to the unit only and not your computer.' No where on their site does it say that! I downloaded that map with the intent of using both on my garmin and on my computer!!!!

I am returning my piece of crap Oregon and demanding my money back for the scam map they sold me!!!! I was also looking to upgrade from my Nuvi 650 to a new one.I will, only it WONT be a Garmin.
You can bet that every single person I bump into during the day will get an earful on what brand they should NEVER EVER buy! Dave Oh yea.Garmin.FYI.You don't sell this product on DVD.great customer support. Yay.zhenkel helped me out.here's what he said to do and it worked.
What I did is rename all 3 files on my SD card: Topo24KGreatLakes.gma to gmapsupp.gma Topo24KGreatLakes.img to gmapsupp.img Topo24KGreatLakes.unl to gmapsupp.unl (After copying them of course!) When I did that then opened BaseCamp.it started importing it right away! A popup comes up when it's done saying 'The only restriction on this map is you can't print' or something to that effect!!!
Thanks to zhenkel, my weekend has been saved! Thanks again! Amemain, my Oregon needs to be plugged in for it to work.but that is much much better than not working at all! Since I purchased just the download and not a DVD or SD Card, BaseCamp couldn't read it. Here's the post where some of that is explained as well as the workaround. Ok hang on here!

Copy that, please tell me this isn't the way of the future and it's specific to these maps.

I have a tendency to plan trip after trip for months at a time accumulating a lot of hours in the programs. I don't want to have to have my device connected the whole time just so I can read a map. With restrictions such as this, IMO people will continue to seek 3rd party maps. C'est la vie edit: I have been looking at the maps for a while and if there was a 24k version for Canada I would have purchased it already, thankfully there isn't and I was able to discover this first.
